To be a good fit for the President opportunity, you will have:
  • A demonstrated ability to run and grow a professional services/consulting business unit/division, or entire company, including:
    • Developing strategy and leading execution.
    • Leading business development, sales and marketing.
    • Driving successful change.
    • Managing budgets and P&Ls.
  • Proven leadership skills, including the ability to manage relationships with employees and contracted expert consultants.

  • Experience selling and managing professional consulting services.
  • Strong financial savvy; experience as a controller or CFO is a plus
  • Professional gravitas along with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • High emotional intelligence and more than a modicum of humility.

  • A bachelor's degree; an MBA or technical graduate study is a plus.

If you are the professional we are looking for, you know much of what this position entails. To ensure clarity, here are some details.
 
You will report to, and work closely with, our CEO and founder. Depending on your background and experience, most of the organization may report directly to you. However, FortéOne is different. The organization has only a few W-2 employees and the majority of the team are 1099 contractors. When we get an engagement, instead of assigning whomever is available, we curate a hand-picked team from this group.
 
The group is made up of proven business operators/leaders who bring our clients the success they achieved in their own businesses and deliver the insights and expertise you would expect from industry experts. Each one has a career’s worth of experience and success (twenty years, on average, at the C-suite level). Many of our consultants have experience in several industries and each has deep expertise in one or more areas.
 
For you, no two days will be the same. A key objective will be developing and executing strategies to grow the business. We market continuously and take advantage of an extensive professional network. At the same time, we are looking for someone who can teach us a thing or two about growing.   • Coordinating engagements, including matching the right consultants to the right jobs.
  • Refining the practice through continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring client satisfaction, including resolving issues and overcoming obstacles.

This is a unique role, leading a consultancy focused on defining and implementing changes required to “professionalize” our clients (and in some cases running their companies) and is made up of experienced business leaders. If you are the right fit, you will come in with strong credentials. In addition, you will need the EQ to manage consultants who have built and run their own successful companies. These consultants (many who have worked with the firm for over a decade) have a wealth of knowledge and experience  and it takes a special leader to leverage this talent and earn the support of this high performing team.
 
You will have two constituencies: our clients and our consultants. As you interact with both, you will need to build relationships, establish trust, and influence and motivate others. Flexibility is important. Our model emphasizes a tailored approach -- there is no one-size-fits-all solution. You will also need to be able to meet clients at their ‘current level’  and help them grow from there.
